Order Types Explained

Market Orders

Execute immediately at the current market price. Best for when you need to enter or exit quickly.

  • Execution: Instant at best available price
  • Guarantee: Execution (not price)
  • Use when: Speed is priority over exact price

Limit Orders

Execute only at your specified price or better. Buy limits below market, sell limits above market.

  • Execution: When price reaches your level
  • Guarantee: Price (not execution)
  • Use when: You want a specific entry price

Stop Orders

Trigger a market order when price reaches your level. Buy stops above market, sell stops below market.

  • Execution: Market order when triggered
  • Use when: Entering on breakouts or confirming momentum

Stop-Limit Orders

Trigger a limit order (not market) when price reaches your stop level. Provides price protection on breakout entries.

Position Sizing

Choose from multiple methods to determine your trade size.

Fixed Lots

Enter the exact number of lots you want to trade. One standard lot equals 100,000 units of the base currency.

Lot TypeUnitsPip Value (EURUSD)
Standard100,000~$10
Mini10,000~$1
Micro1,000~$0.10

Risk-Based Sizing

Let the platform calculate optimal position size based on your risk parameters.

  1. Enable the Risk Calculator toggle
  2. Enter your risk amount:
    • Percentage: Risk % of account (e.g., 2%)
    • Fixed Amount: Dollar amount to risk (e.g., $200)
  3. Set your stop loss distance
  4. Position size is calculated automatically

Calculation Formula:

Position Size = Risk Amount ÷ (Stop Loss Pips × Pip Value)

Example: $10,000 account, 2% risk ($200), 50 pip stop = 0.40 lots

Stop Loss and Take Profit

Setting Stop Loss

Protect your capital by always using a stop loss. Set it using:

  • Price: Exact price level (e.g., 1.0950)
  • Pips: Distance from entry (e.g., 50 pips)
  • Amount: Maximum loss in currency (e.g., $100)

Setting Take Profit

Lock in profits by setting a take profit target:

  • Price: Target price level
  • Pips: Distance from entry
  • R Multiple: Multiple of risk (e.g., 2R = 2× your stop loss)

Risk:Reward Display

The order panel displays your Risk:Reward ratio based on SL and TP settings. Aim for at least 1:2 (risk $1 to make $2).

Best Practice

Enable "Require Stop Loss" in Settings → Trading Preferences to prevent placing orders without protection.
